Ls1 cam suggestions

I know this question gets asked alot.
I have an 85 C10 with a 98 ls1, will be using 243 heads as soon as I get them from the machine shop. He told me he had to mill slightly for piston slap, replaced some valves-maybe all of them. He also installed my Lunati dual valve springs. I am pulling the 4l60e that's behind it and I ordered a TCI Flexplate #399753 and Circle D 3000-3200 278mm stall convertor to mate the 80e to the ls1 crank/flexplate. Truck is a toy, of course I want it to sound good and the best performance I can get with that stall convertor. I know the springs can hold the 228r, Torquer V2. Am I close to the range I should be in for the cam?

The 228r cam is a great all around cam and should work well for you. I'd recommend 112LSA if you go that route.

What gear ratio are you rolling with? Could help us give you some more options.

I haven't decided on rear end gears yet, that's another thing I haven't picked out for the combination. Maybe 3.73's,4.10s? It has 2.XX in there now I assume.

IMO with the 3.06 first gear in that trans, anything more than 3.23/3.42s is just gonna go up in smoke with the light *** end of your truck. A street sweeper HT or the Titan IV are terrific options for your build

I'm definitely open to suggestions. The truck wont be drive much or very far. The wheels are 22's on 285/35 for the rear, 265/35 on the front

Bump. I still haven’t made any cam decisions. Also curious if I should go with the Melling 10295 oil pump

Thanks for that! I’ll google the Titan III and see where I can find one. Is there an option for the LSA?

Our high lift asa cam is quiet...under the hood that is! It has a pretty wicked idle and lots of mid range power esp to move a truck!
