Default Heads, head gasket options

I have a new hawks instigator cam on the way. Specs are .608/.596, I am looking into a set of 799 heads. My question is, what thickness head gasket should I go with to be safe. Also I see a set of heads on sale here, saying they have been milled down .030. my concern on those would be valve hitting piston. Any advice? Thanks

With .030 milled I think running a thinner gasket would be cutting it close depending on the duration of the cam.. milled .030 if you don't want to chance fly cutting id use stock gaskets, but you still want to measure either way.

It's a 240/244 with 112+2 LSA. I think we will stick stock size. Go from there. Didn't know if I'd need to use maybe a slightly thicker one, or if such a gasket existed. This is first head, cam, intake swap I've ever done on ls1

I would say if they are milled then i would run stock head gasket but you will need to check to make sure.

If You do end up needing thicker head gaskets the 5.3L and the 6.0L fel-pros are .058" thick

You better measure with a cam that size. That cam might not clear on unmilled heads.

Use quality stock gaskets. May I ask what is the intended use of this build? DD or Race? I mean milled unported 799's with that donkey dick of a stick with .6" lift...It doesn't seem....optimal for many situations. Not to mention PTV clearance will need to be looked at before you turn that key.

The car is a leisure car only. Occasional track days. Then the rest is stress relief on the streets. I think I'm passing on those specific heads. For the time I'm just going to have my stock 241's p&p. And shoot for good heads next year.

Would it be too late to change the Cam?
