cleaning head gasket material out of coolant
cleaning block surface and preparing for new gaskets and reinstall heads. I'm sure some head gasket crap and dirt has found its way into the coolant passages ways next to the cylinders. I'm going to try to vacuum it, but is there any better ways to make sure it's cleaned out? will it affect anything? what should I do?

I have a miti-vac vacuum pump with the fluid transfer kit. I sucked the block dry so any foreign material can be easily seen. I also stuffed rags in the block holes when cleaning the surface and worked in one small area at a time. Be especially careful with the lifter area. I was very careful but had a borescope so for the heck of it looked into the lifter oil gallery and found a piece of crap in there. Took some time to fish it out but even being very careful it still happened. Often wonder if that is why some guys have issues later after a head/cam swap.
