Marker trick for push rod length on a LS?

Default Marker trick for push rod length on a LS?

Does this still hold true with LS? I've got a set of the summit 1.8 roller rockers on my 4.8. milled the heads .025 and used a .041 HG. So I figured I'd need a shorter push rod. Figure my aftermarket cam probably has a smaller base as well so it may have cancelled out.

Markertest results. Buddy borrowed my push rod length checker going to pick it up this weekend just wanted to get the jump on push rods if I need to grab a set.

Nope. Pushrod length has zero effect on wipe pattern.

Good to know... Weird summit racing has a video on youtube saying that is does. Should start right at the section where they use the marker for push rod length checking. If not it's right at 2 min 30 sec.

That's a SBC. They use a stud mount rocker where the pushrod length does effect the geometry. The LS engines are more like a SBF with pedestal mount rockers. You have to add shim under the stands or mill them thinner to change the wipe pattern.

Although, you still need the proper pushrod length. But you shim the pedestal to get the proper wipe.

Not to state the obvious, but get the wipe right before you measure for pushrods

What I did was bolt down the rockers with no pushrod and rotate them with check springs to my cam lift. You can either use a dial indicator, which is what I did, or a fine graduation metal ruler. If the heads are on the car, just make sure the piston is down so you don't contact with the valve.

Also, if you use the hydraulic lifters and there is any plunger movement, that will give a bad reading as well.
