Default h/c swap related questions...

never done a head swap before.... I have some old LT4 spring "seats" layin around i never used...somone told me they'd fit my TEA LS1 heads ok..that true? the heads i got dont have seats on em.

opinions on a used set of "blue stripes" Comp 918's for about 5k miles...would you recomend goin with a dual spring for a TR-224 cam? or would i be ok? i was told they were used on a blown 6.0L with an LS6 cam in a truck if that matters.

also. best place for some coil relocation brackets? i got a 98 motor and these are 99+ heads so apparently ill need some

pick up the PP gold spring kit; comes with springs, tit. retainers, hardened spring seats, and new vavle stems seals. kit runs 295 from TSP, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal.

you dont need to relocate your coil packs, all you need are 99+ vavle covers and coil pack brackets.

ill look into the pp spring kit.

as for the coil packs..i didnt know if it'd be cheaper to do the coil packs or just the newer valve covers.

im no good with pushrods either..what length am i gonna need? 60k miles on the motor, new lifters an issue?

thanks for the help so far

i dont think your understanding the difference. the 806 heads which are perimeter bolt vavle covers the coil packs bolt directly to the valve cover. with all the 99+ heads use a center bolt vavle cover and a coil pack bracket which the coil packs mount too. thats the only difference, centerbolt valve covere and brackets should run you about 50 bucks. coil relocation will cost over 200 bucks. the coil relocation setup moves the coil packs off the vavle covers and they are mounted else where, longer spark plug wires are needed as well.

oh yeah, standard length 7.4 PR will be fine, and at only 60k miles the lifters are fine as well.

i would, seeing as your already in the motor, might as well do the pump too. JWIS make a great single chain and you can pick up a ported ls6 pump as well. im running the rollmaster double and ported ls6 pump w/o any issues.
