Plus, it sounds just like the old Hot Cam(good!), so anyone asking, just tell them "Aww, it's just a Hot Cam" . Then inflict harm upon them.... lol

Lol! I was able to take it for a longer ride tonight and all I can say is....What a difference. There is absolutely no suguring anymore, much better drivability, very close to stock, but waaayyyy more power!

Yeah, I bet it was a blast! It sounds just right. I liked the Hot Cam, but it had so little lift it was a wonder it increased the LS3 from 430 to 495! Duration, overlap, and tight LSA did it. And now, LIFT, Baby!

Ls3 cam has more intake lift, and same exhaust that the hot cam has. The ls3 480 is ok esp for complete with wnty. Obviously it works better with a better cam.

Maybe ill work on the ASA next. I know some people like the Howard's asa cam...but ive got better plans in mind.

Not to steal from the thread though.

Im happy so far! Im glad dave is also.

I think GM ought to buy the rights to the new cam and use it in their crate engines. 500+HP EASILY!! Put the old Hot Cam in retirement....

Well the results are in! Now first off it was 20 degrees hotter today than the first pull so I'm sure that affected the numbers. The first graph is the pull today and the second is an overlap of the pull with the GM hot cam. You can see it makes more tq and hp up top but sracifices a little tq down low.
In exchange for the negligible difference in tq down low I have gained a HUGE amount of drivability. This thing drives like a stock cam. There is absolutely no surging or bucking at low speeds, as in a parking lot. I am also able to use 6th gear more often. Where as with the GM cam I could not use it below 65mph.
I must say the butt dyno feels like there was more than a 10 hp increase. Im sure the warmer temp had something to do with that. All in all I am very happy with this cam and would choose it any day over the original GM cam, even if the power was the same. It just drives soooo much better!
Up next.... a trip to the track!

The truth hurt sometimes. The actual customer telling his review and how it is is alot better than a vendor trying to smooth things over. Im sure had they been dynod back to back it would have made more power.

In other related news, we are having 2 custom lobes designed for this cam in particular. They will be just as quiet and be just as safe with .600 lift exactly and will still use the 1218 spring. We used already available lobes from comp (if you know where to look) and like to use this design for its stability and quiet operation. We use them in some of the other cams we spec out as well because they work well.

Still a "budget cam" using high quality parts, and now our install kits are even less $$ for the same quality as well.

Here is a new video clip of the idle after the tune. Its pretty nasty! I also recorded the engine bay to show how quiet it is. There is no sewing machine or lifter noise at all. Quiet as stock.

I actually thought I heard lifter or valvetrain noise. Not sure I would call it clatter, but their IS noise under the hood. Don't mean to burst your bubble....

Trust me there is none. Its probably the crappy mic. on my phone. I put a mechanics stethoscope on each primary and all I can hear is a smooth rolling sound no lifter or valve tap at all. The thin walled SE headers don't help either. It was much quieter with the Macs.
I also measure for lifter pre load with a dial indicator on the rocker. I am running Morel 5315's and the preload for them all was between .050 and .055.

I can tell you, with his close attention to detail, if it made any noise id be the first to know. He immediately noticed the diff between the og hot cam and this one.

OK, bad phone mic would do it. I believe you. First test must have been cooler air? That would make a huge difference relatively speaking. Maybe dyno it again on a nice cool morning. I'd bet power under the curve is way better....

Yea, she pulls hard all the way up top. The old GM cam would kind die out beyond 5000, but this just seems to want to keep on going.
Here is a video of the pull today.
