Default New and improved prototype hot cam!

I am currently running the GMPP hot cam and recently had a dyno tune done at New Era Performance in Rochester NY. I put down 377hp and 365tq. I was asked by the WS6 STORE to try out a new prototype cam they are coming out with. It was designed to be an improvement on the exact cam I was running (the GMPP Hot Cam.) Since I just had a dyno tune done from a shop that they are very familer with it was a good time to see how much I can gain over the original hot cam. It looks like the lobes will be very easy on the valve train, which is what I really wanted when I installed GMs hot cam. All I can say is that I needed to change springs to accommodate the increased lift of the new cam. As soon as I get it in I will be heading back to NEP for another tune.... Hopefully for a nice gain!

Are you allowed to release lift, duration, and LSA figures yet?
Should be interesting!
As an aside, Cam Motion's Torque Titan V.2 has VERY similar duration numbers (218/226 vs. Hot Cam's 219/228) much more lift(.595/.587 vs. .525/.525) and more LSA (116* vs. 112*). Supposedly increases H.P. by about 30-35 if I recall. Maybe Kip can jump in here to correct.

Not yet, but I will asap! I can say it has more lift on a new lobe design.

If you just ground the 219/228 on newer lobes, it'd pick up power.

If you did LSL/LXL for example and had over .600 lift but kept it a 112+4... it'd probably pick up 25HP and drive better since it'd pull more vacuum at idle with the faster lobes and have a lot more duration @ .200.

To prove a point and keep the cam specs nearly identical it has a 112lsa. We can grind it on any lsa obviously, but its not just lets make another custom cam etc It is to show new lobe design plus more lift equals power. In order to keep it the "budget" cam we want it uses a pac1218 spring with a little less than .600 lift. It is not lsl lobes then obviously. Again its not just lets make a custom cam and screw up all the numbers and say its a hot cam proto. It has the same @.050 duration as well.

So it will likely have an "easy rolling" lope, sorta like the OEM Hot Cam?
Should put out a bunch more power than the old cam too....

I've got a stock cam right now. Hot cam was on the list when I was researching a while ago, but cam tech has moved along since it was originally designed, so I held off. There's a bunch of stuff that needs attention before I swap cams yet, but it's always good to keep up to date.

The basic outline of a plan in the back of my mind right now is to get a Martin Smallwood spec'd cam, BTR springs etc.

Obviously a complete custom cam would be better but nearly any custom cam would be close. 220s intake 220s to 230 exhaust then the lift depends on which school of cam design you are in. Then usually a 110 to 113 lsa with a +2 at the end. They will all be streetable and all make good power. A few like us just dont charge extra for custom cams.
This cam will be an in stock item for us as well as the springs and prs for it also.
Dave was really at the right place at the right time and had a very good tuner.

Im seriously on pins and needles as well to find out the results.

Well here it is a video of the new cam at idle. I think it sounds really good! It deffenitatly pulls harder than the old Gm hot cam. I am going to New Era on Wednesday the 24th for the results!
