Default Hotspots on Crankshaft Rebuildable or Trash

Im working on rebuilding my Lm7 but looking at my crank theres some damage that worry me. Should I Toss it or Keep it.

My goal at the moment is a stock build on a budget just to get my car back on the road then later begin the performance mods so its not going to be a High Hp engine should i be okay with a good polish and ill be able to reuse

Im debateing on Getting the Crank Polished or buying a low miles Crank to replace this one.

Many people use heat to expand the reluctor/tone ring to install it, that's ok. It's the rod and main journals that critical for reuse, ask your machinist to look it over he'll be able to determine it's reusability. You're not really showing a good enough pic for anyone to see it's overall condition. Lay it flat on a bench and take more pics.

With all that rust on the journals it's going need to be polished at the machine shop. Like 64post said, have the machine shop check it all.

I'd have him check that reluctor wheel for run-out it looks like they only heated it in a small area instead of all around.

The crank wasnt heated , the rust on the seal area may be an issue and rust on the journals , all you can do is get it polished and see how it looks/measures. It looks reusable i have polished a lot worse looking cranks then that.

Or just turn it .010 -.010 and forget about it. You can get a micro bushing for the seal area if it is too rough.....
