LS1 400-425 Crank HP?
I'd like to see about 400-425 HP at the crank. I need (some) power, longevity and fuel mileage for a daily driver.
What's good in rings? I've built many SBC/BBC but these are new to me.
I have stock heads (243 casting I believe) that i intend to use. My cam is a 965 I think, but it's been a while since I looked at it. I'm not after something rowdy, I'd rather not be noticed.
I don't have an intake yet, figuring on probably using a truck unit, nor do I have a harness and ecm, but they'll likely be recycled too. I need the Holley pan and headers to put it in my car.
So basically looking for recommendations for a cam, rings and intake to put it together well, but inexpensively if possible.

853/241 are what's normal. I'd mill the heads .030" run Hastings rings and a cute little 218/226 sized cam and enjoy the 360-370-ish RWHP
Great response and mileage too. Lunati dual springs are a nice kit to get
And that's usually good for 335-345rwhp or so, which should translate close to 420HP.
Not sure what you mean by 965 cam... since you're tearing it down anyways might as well replace cam bearings, get hardened pushrods, and toss in whatever shelf cam is on sale.
