Default LS1 Cam swap

I have an LS1/4L60E swapped into a S10 truck. The motor is internally stock with CAI and Sanderson headers. Also running 4.11 gear in the rear end. I'm looking for a little more performance and a nice idle. I was told that a 226/232 111 +3 cam would work. Please give me your thoughts and opinions, Thanks!!

Then carry on, lol. That cam will do as you ask. What year is the engine? The later ones have the good LS6 intake manifold, but the early ones have the less desirable LS1 manifold. Can't remember which year it changed, but it's either 2000 or 2001. Dorman makes a good copy of the LS6 if you need one and can't find an original.
Have fun!

01-02 fbodys got the ls6 manifold. That cam will be fine, most mid range cams look like that now.

The motor is from a 99 vette, I'll look into the LS6 intake. Thank you for your input!!!

You know how this is gonna go; You'll get the cam in , the better manifold on, then the question will be- "I wonder if the heads could use some improvement?" You don't mention which heads you have. If stock they're 241's. You could get them ported for better flow, or get some 243/799's. The process continues....
Enjoy the truck, man! Looks like a fun ride!

I'm not gonna lie, I've had those thoughts in the back of my head. I'm trying to stay focused so I can "finish" the truck and work on doing an LS swap for my Impala!

Truth right there. You can about predict most midrange cams are gonna be:
226-229 intake
230-235 exhaust
110-114 LSA
+2 to +4 advance

It's a sweet spot for a good boost in performance without giving up too much in driveability.

Cam will be fine, is see about at least getting stock 799s on there. You an find them on eBay resurfaced and tested ready to bolt on for 400-600 bucks.

Getting the stock TB ported is inexpensive and will get you a couple of hp also. Likewise, when doing a cam the balancer comes off so it's a perfect time to consider an under drive pulley of some sort. ATI is my favorite.
