H/C/I build: "Toothless" w/MMS220's (Dyno results in!!)
Starting this thread for the motor build. If you want to see the thread for the whole car go here
So this originally started out as a build to get me to 450rwhp using a set of 243 heads ported by Advanced Induction. After having some trouble getting into contact with Phil (and then seeing that their prices went up) I sent an email to Tony, and one phone call later I was putting a deposit down on his 220's. (Funny how he seems to do that lol)
Here's some background on the car:
2002 Z28 Convertible M6, bone stock save a Magnaflow cat-back and an SLP lid.
Here's the build:
Rebuilt bottom-end with Wiseco -3.2cc pistons, Scat I-beam rods, and a stock crank.
Ported LS6 oil pump
Improved Racing oil baffle as well as the crank scraper
Custom Cam from Tony (227/232 114+1)
His hand finished MMS220's milled to 57cc's
Johnson Short Travel lifters
10mm Yella Terra "Pro" rockers
11.4:1 CR
FAST 102 (also ported by Tony)
Nick Williams 102mm TB
42# White Bosch 3's
Hooker Blackheart True Duals with 1-7/8" Mid-length headers
My goal right now is around 470-480 at the wheels. After that, I may look at an EWP and (if my wallet can survive) A lightweight clutch to free up a little more power.
The name "Toothless" came from my nephew. He loves the movie "how to train your dragon". First time he saw my car he yells "It's toothless!" (one of the dragons from the movie >>). Despite my best efforts, the name stuck haha.

Nice! Definitely ditch the Y pipe. I did the 10mm rocker bolts. What's your cam specs going to be- or did you not get that far yet?
You'll really enjoy working with Tony

Updated the post with the camp specs. It's a stock cube build, so 346. Was trying for forever to get my hands on an LS2, but couldn't find one for a reasonable price lol.
Darth: Your build was actually the inspiration for mine. While I was waiting to get Tony on the phone I looked around at some of the 220 builds and saw yours. I was immediately hooked on the idea of doing something similar lol.

Thanks! The cam you are getting will drive nicer than mine for sure. I think you'll be very happy. But seriously do set aside budget for the X pipe. Y pipe really cost me on my first dyno

Updated the parts list a little.
Tony and I want to try the full Hooker Blackheart system to see what kind of power it can make in a fully optimized motor (Toddoky, are you watching? lol). Yes, the mid-length headers will give up a few HP to the longtubes, but considering my alternatives (A far too expensive Kooks set-up, or a far too loud Speed Engineering set-up) I think I'll be happy with this.
With the "optimized" build of course comes the Johnson lifters and the Nick williams TB. Does anyone recommend having the TB ported? Or is there no real gains to be had vs. out of the box?

I don't recommend porting the 102 TB. You risk having a bad hanging idle due to space between body and blade

Yeah... my budget got annihilated after I talked to him. Fortunately I have a VERY understanding and VERY patient fiance.
I think if you ditched the Y-pipe you'd free up some power there. I think Darth saw a pretty sizeable jump when he switched from his to a dual setup.

It has crossed my mind to roll with the new speed engineering true duals set up eventually, but probably won't happen anytime soon. I'd be curious to see what kind of power it would pick up. I felt my results turned out perfect considering it was a mustang dyno. I may eventually look for more efficiencies in the future such as roller rockers (maybe the new TSP's), true duals, ported fast, etc. I would think i could get another 15 rwhp from all that, which should put me about 475 on the same dyno. First i need to hit the track and see if my 10 bolt survives lol. Also need to verify my dyno numbers match my trap speeds, since we all know how dyno's can be!
Can't wait for your results, any idea when you will have it all complete?

Sadly probably not for a while. I probably won't get the heads until late july/early august and then I'll end up buying the bigger parts in a bit of a piecemeal fashion. My hope is by the end of the year the car is together and running (that way I can spend the spring breaking it in and then hammer the s*** out of it when summer hits lol).

Getting the oil pump sent to Tony tomorrow. Right now just waiting on the camshaft to arrive so I can start putting other parts on the motor.
Out of curiosity, how much assembly lube is "enough"? I tried to put on a good solid coating, but I fear I may have used too little.
