Default I give up - Cam Selection again,..,some more.,.,

I've searched and read over and over for a decade now - I still can't decide.

2002 C5 Corvette --156K miles-- 3.15 gears --3600 Circle D Stall -- 241 heads -- Headers

This car is driven daily - will never touch the track - but stop lights are my favorite pass time -- most battles are over in seconds still in 1st gear or still under 5K rpm's in 2nd - I know a big number cam isn't gonna help me - I'm not even sure a Street Sweeper would be ideal

Here is where I am - Lunatic makes a 219/223-duration, .625/.625-inch lift, 112 LSA - the mid range torque is about 30-ftlbs more than a 230/238-duration, .600/.600-inch lift, 113 LSA they compared to.

The other one I've been eyeing is Cam Motions Little Chopper 222/232 .595"/.587"

With my LT1 Camaro It had a Vigilante 2800 --Which means when you hit it - It would flash to 3800 and go (which was incredible) -- When you tell the guys at Circle D you want 3600 -- They give you a 3600, meaning I need to be at the beginning at the torque at 3600.

We all know I can pop a 228R or a Brian Tooley Stage3 or a Titan3 in there and I probable wont even notice -- but for my app -without Tony's 223 Sportmans - What would be best ?

With what you use it for and unported heads, it may be best to stay under 232 or so on the exhaust. The Cam Motion cam you mentioned would be a great cam for your needs. In my opinion, there really isn't any need to run much over .600 lift on stock heads and will put more stress on the rocker arms and trunnions.

My opinion would be a 226/232 .600/.600 112 LSA, it would have great bottom end and would work well if you decided to swap the intake and/or go with ported heads.

Either one of those would suit you well.

Have you considered this one? Or is it too mild?

Here is the Image from their test. I love the mid range torque of the baby lunatic over that big cam - I wish they had pic of what happens over 5K -- but we know what happens.

We all know a camshaft is all about compromises -- I just wanted to find something torque based that began at 3600 and didn't have that dip in power all "big cams" have.

This will do what you want

http://www.texas-speed.com/p-245-texas-speed-stage-1-ls3-225230-629615-camshaft.aspx

Get it from us, tell sales you saw it on tech, and save $10. Save $15 on the complete cam/springs/pr kit as well the same way.

No sweat on this choice. In a 2002 Vette with a 3600 stall, I will give you two options:

If you want a very mild idle with near stock drivability choose the Titan II:
http://store.cammotion.com/the-titan2

If you want some hotrod lope to the idle and still good drivability, go with the Titan IV:
http://store.cammotion.com/the-titan4

Both of these cams will still murder the tires at will with a 3600 stall. The Titan IV will have more power above 5500 RPM.

I carefully read your comments twice. I think the Lunati 219/223 is the correct cam for your application based on the mid-range torque. This is also a cam I would lime to try in my 91 Camaro convertible when it gets LS swapped.

The Cam Motion Titian 2 might work pretty well too. I would want to see a graph of the torque curve since that is key with your goals.

Flow Tech also has the FTI LSX StreetSweeper-TQ Camshaft petty good too. I suggest contacting FTI and getting a custom cam tailored to your goals.

The 3.15 gears might be worth upgrading to 3.42's or similar, along with stickier wider rear tires if you've not already done so.

I'd skip any 230/238 cam or similar cam in a stock displacement LS1, that likes to play around at stop lights and is a daily driver.

Best wishes with your project.
