Default PTV clearance on this LQ4/LS3 head setup

Gents,

I'm installing some LS3 heads in anticipation for my LSA blower install. The car will still be N/A for another 6 months or so

I've been running the Tick Torquemax Stage 2 cam which had plenty of clearance with the 243 heads. I called them and they said it "should" be fine with the LS3 heads

But I figured it was worth asking you guys for reassurance before I waste my time installing everything

SBE LQ4
LS9 headgasket (.051)
LS3 heads (not milled)

Tick Torquemax Stage 2
231/235 | .625"/.605" | LSA111+2

I've compared the cam to a bunch of other LS3 cams and it has less duration and lift than some. Thoughts?

Thanks
Mike

The 231 has ok ptv but the 109 is a tad close. id use an adj timing set, degree the cam, and set it up at 110-111. youd be surprised how far off the icl on that cam can be. its not ticks fault, it just happens.
That's what i would do. Option 2 is get adj set, retard 2* to 111 icl and run it. you dont need more advance with a blower anyway but youd prob like more lsa honestly.

That camshaft will have sufficient piston-to-valve clearance as long as you don't mill the heads mill the heads much.

Also, with the dish pistons in an LQ4, you also get some additional valve clearance. I am not sure how much extra the dishes afford, but they do afford some additional.
