Default 1721 cam in 4.8 or 5.3

I'll don the flak jacket because I KNOW this question has been beaten to death, reincarnated, then beaten again to death lol. Starting to pieces parts put together my LS build. Found a used 1721 cam for a price I could not refuse (doing this build on a budget). I've been one with the Google for awhile now, and while there are a lot of various posts on this same subject scattered about, they seem to be pointed primarily towards TRUCKS. I understand there is a bit of low end torque loss with this cam in a 4.8/5.3, which is detrimental in a 4000+ vehicle, but in my case.....I'm working on a 3200ish car (either my present Mustang or BMW E46....have not yet decided). From what I understand this is the cam GM used in the 5.3 HO crate motor....335hp from the info I have seen? Curious if anyone has run this cam in a car, and what their experience/opinions are. My plans are simple....stock rebuild, 1721 cam, either LS6 or Speedmaster intake (depending on what I can get my hands on when the time comes), and a 4L60 or CD009/Z33 6 speed depending on what car I end up swapping. Thoughts?

The 5.3HO came in Silverado 1500 4x4's so you will experience NO noticeable loss of torque. It is very mild.

Those cams sell for $50-80 most of the time. If you are looking for something like that just put the ls6 cam in there. A few in the pfs section.

These are 2 different cams. The 721 cam was in crate eng 327/327hp Deluxe. The L33 has more lift , the 327 has more duration

L33 HO 193 / 193 .479 /.479 116 lsa

327 Delux 196 /201 .467 /.479 116 lsa

OK, thank you! I had figured the crate engine was just the truck engine in crate form.
The extra duration of the crate engine would be somewhat noticeable.

That second cam is the 01-04 ls1 cam and the 02-06 6.0 cam.
