When the 100# is in your passenger seat, it is between the axles and the added weight is spread between them. When the 100# is right ON TOP of and/or just behind the front axle, a difference is felt when transitioning into a turn and straightening out, also when going thru esses. Putting it in street-speak, it is felt going on a mountain road or any twisty country road, and even going in and out of a freeway on/off ramp.
BTW, most of us have lifetime muffler bearings now! Don't you keep up??

When the 100+ lbs in the passenger seat opens their mouth youll KNOW they are there. Usually causes erratic swerving as well....

Pizza

The biggest issue with trying to argue adding weight to engine bay vs pass seat though is changing the weight differential front to back and adding weight over the front wheels. add 100lbs over the rear wheels exactly and tell me it doesnt change the way the car feels and handles and maybe then you could look for therapy.
Esp on stock/stockish suspension.

+1 on the pizza....

"Some people" just do not realize how much 100# in the wrong spot affects handling. These are the same people who, when confronted with their ignorance on the subject, just reply with irrelevant BS. The same dynamics that affect a race car also affect street vehicles, just not as severely.

I know that 100lbs. is 100lbs. and all weight adds up. How much is subjective to each user and application. To try and say if or not it is a big deal is just an OPINION. If you see it as different, you need therapy. I know an iron block in my car at the HP level will stop it from doing wheel stands and I can't have that.

When you purchase a block, from Pantera or other quality provider, a Sonic Test report is provided.

As for the rust, this is caused from Hot Tank cleaning.

The most common size I specify for 99mm is 3.903, good for NPR Steel Rings.

My guess is that it would clean by a hone.

I would ASK Atech to PAY for a hone, less than the cost of a return shipment.

So your saying you can't take an alum block 3.9 +

Default Gen IV Blocks

Hi OMC-8, NO, not stated !

I buy "blems" (LS-3) when possible finding nothing wrong except a small mark somewhere on the casting.

These are common 3.934" unfinished.

WHAT do you need ?

As for the weight issue +100 .lbs is great AND there is High Weight or Low Weight with BIG difference in performance.

Gm doesnt sell an unfinished block like that. The reason for the blemish would be the unfinished bore but still ive never seen that and ive seen alot of blems. In the 100s.
