Just ordered a cam package from thunderracing. Wondering how this cam is going to perform in a daily driven car. .575/.563 230/224 111. I know very little about cams. Also where is the best mail in tune and for the lowest price since I am in El Paso and there are no shops with this capability within 8 hours. Any help is appreciated. If it were me. I'd plan a day and make an appointment to get in at TSP to get tuned. Mail order just isn't worth it to me. It's a guesstimation and not near as good as having the vehicle in front of you.

 

I also got that package from TR. I asked them if they do mail order PCM, and they do, but it's $500!! lol I guess that's what you'll pay anywhere, but that's why I'm staying stock tune.

 

Stock tune on an aftermarket cam. What a waste of money in my opinion. Unless it's like a LS6 cam your gonna be shitting 02 sensors or have other issues including you TC not locking up (if an a4) and what not. Good luck to ya.

 

My aftermarket cam is a 216/220 on a 116lsa. It should be okay w/ a stock tune. You're right though, if I had $1200 to do a cam w/ tune, it would have been better.

 

I agree something that size shouldn't be to bad.

 

thanks guys for the info. i just got the cam yesterday. i set up an appt. with TSP for the install and tune. although the cam card has the LSA closer to 110 than 111. it is 110.4. i do not know how this will effect anything, but i guess it will lope a little.

 

The lower LSA should help to just keep the power down in the RPM range..

 

that cam is going to lope hard.. and need a tune.

I have another question. I guess I should have asked when I ordered, but how much hp for this cam with stock heads. I have SLP longtubes minus cats(no ground clearance), ls6 intake,K&N charger induction kit, cut out, ported throttle body, and underdrive pullies. I heard 400rwhp plus with this cam and tune. Would like more opinions. Maybe someone has a similiar setup. Car is a 00 formula. Oh actual cam specs is .576/.562 230/224 110.4 lsa

 

M6 with cutouts open will render 400+. A4 depending on TC but I doubt it.
