Default Cam selection for 4.8 build

I am in the process of building a 4.8 cammed for midrange power with 6k redline, prc stage 2.5 heads,36# injectors, built 4160e, factory 3:42 gears all in 86 Camaro.

I am wanting a cam that would give me good down low and midrange power.

I know limited information on how cams work, what would a 201/209 601/603- 110 feel like in a 4.8 efi with 3:42 built 4l60e?

That would be too small. 216 220 would be better imo. Its all subjective though.

On a 4.8l youll notice a higher rpm range than on a 5.3l or 5.7l on the same cam. Like bspec said your shooting really low on the cam specs.
Using a longer runner truck intake would help with what you want, then you can run a larger cam and still have what you want without going above 6k too much.

Along the specs he said Id recommend the tsp stg3 truck cam
Itll work exactly how you want (cut on a 110) we have it right now for $389 shipped.
Use the pac1218 to keep it on budget.
A bit smaller the high lift stg2 is what youd want. good mild torquey cam with a max rpm what you are looking for.

The smartest thing you can do is call the people who designed your heads. http://www.texas-speed.com/p-5072-te...-camshaft.aspx

thats another thing that has got me stumped. I would like to retain the struck intake if it would support my goals, however if it will hold me back I would switch intakes. I will notch the hood to make the stock truck intake work, but will it be ok to use as for as performance wise? I heard the stock truck intakes are good but cut out at 5k rpm

For what you are looking at doing the stock truck intake is fine. it will not hold your cam only 4.8 back.

Either of those tsp cams will work perfect for your application
