Default Snapped a valve spring, what brand are they?

OVee the weekend I snapped a valve spring on deceleration at 2k RPM. Only 4K miles on the springs and the entire engine itself. Any causes that could have snapped it other then part failure? Seems rather odd...

Are they Comp springs?
The 918s used to have a history of breaking randomly.

Those don't look like any of the commonly used LS specific springs, they don't even look like a dual spring as I can't see an inner spring.

Maybe it's a trick of the camera angle, but I don't think they look like a matched set. I think I'm seeing at least two - possibly three -- different springs.

My first thought was comp 918 on reading the title, but those don't look like comp 918 at all

I'd buy a brand new set of springs from Tooley.

A lot of springs break when pushed hard before the engine gets up to temperature.

Very true. That and either installation error or shipping/handling damage seem to be most common.

Dont mess around with iffy springs. Iffy you dont know? Change em all. Most serious guys change em every year anyways. Cant go wrong with fresh valve springs. I have no clue what those are either. I too think they look mismatched and a couple look like PG with the inner removed. Call PAC, give them your cam spec, get a new set. Verify preload and order pushrods if need be. 0.050" is a nice safe pre load if your gonna beat on it. My first LS1 still tickin with that pre load and it gets run to hell
