Default Howard ASA cam in 5.3?

I'm building a gen 3 5.3 with gen 4 rotating assembly and 4.8 flat top pistons, I plan on doing some minor port clean up on my 706 non crack-tec truck heads. I have a btr platinum .660 spring kit. I'm doing speed engineering 1 3/4 long tubes and CAI. I want a cam that will perform to the fullest my set up is capable of and obviously I love the ASA sound. Has anyone ran this cam in there 5.3 on here? I know there may be better options out there and I'm open to seeing what everyone thinks will be my best bet, my trucks an 02' rcsb I also have a freshly rebuilt 4l60e with transgo shift kit, z pak, etc that I plan on getting a 3200 circle d stall for. Thanks

ASA cam probably isn't your best choice. Its sounds great, but its a low-lift cam. If you have a .660 spring kit, you might as well take advantage of something with some more lift. You're also in a truck so you'll want something geared a little more torwards torque, or you'll find yourself using a little extra throttle to cruise around, and it'll be noticeable when hauling/towing.

The TSP Stg3 high lift cut on a 111 would get you the sound you want and not sacrifice bottom end. That asa cam is too large for a 5.3 and would also need a larger stall. The stg3 can work with stock stall or even the 2600 trailblazer stall also.
