So basically what you guys are saying is that there is no reason to even look at 5.7 stage xx heads if you stay stock cubes. The 5.3's if I understand this thread correctly are the way to go pretty much in all instances.

Just out of curiousity has anyone dynoed 5.7 stage II heads versus 5.3's back to back to see the actual difference? (say for example GTP 5.7 heads versus 5.3 TEA or even 5.3 TEA's versus 5.7 TEA's)??

But Coffey is running 5.3L heads with a 382 all bore, and it seems to run pretty strong.

Remember that if you increase your displacement the increased cubes will be packed into the same combustion chamber and increase your compression ratio. I think that the 500 HP buildup was in GMHTP several months ago i tried to find it but I guess i pitched it. My memory could be slipping Im sure - welcome to middle age HAHA

How do the LS6 heads stand up against the 5.3 heads?. Which would flow better and make a higher compression ratio.

It's just a post bump.. To The Top.

My vote would be for the 5.3's now that we are ramping up our program over here, I experimented with 11.7 recently on a customers car with -0- KR problems.

Besides you can shave 5.7 .030" and get 10.8 to 1 compression(62cc)chamber, and still have room for 224* range cam with no problems PTV. There is no reason i can see that 5.3 would flow more fully ported than 241 5.7 castings. I think the 6.0 litre LQ9 is the sleeper casting out there.

I have seen flow sheets from 5.3L GTP heads flowing 335 cfm at .060 and just keep on flowing...Dont remember compression estimate, but I think they were milled.

I would think that particular set of heads would have been great on a 422ci motor, or am I missing something???

The setup I have headed my way within a week or so is a set of Absolute Speed Stage 2 heads C/R 11:1 loaded with everything. I bought a pair of stock heads and sent them in to Jay. I told him of the cam I would be running ans aked how far we could go with the C/R. It's a Comp Cam 224/224 .581/.581 LSA:114. He told me with the 114 LSA I should be ok with a C/R of 11:1. My advise ,find out which brand of heads you want to go with and talk to the guy/company how will be doing the work.
