Hot cam question.

I am getting ready to put in my hot cam. I want to know how it will run with
a A4 without a tune or a stall converter? I will also be putting on a ported
throtel body at the same time if that makes much of a difference. Will I be
able to drive it around without to many problems? One more qusetion, What is
a good size stall converter for this cam for a every day driver and occasional
street racer?

What do you think guys?

It will definately need tuning with an auto. You may have difficulty with California emissions testing and that cam.

Thanks, I know I will need a tune. I guess my only question is if I will be able to drive
every day for about a month or so untill I get edit? I just wont be able to afford it
for about a month. If it was a six speed I would not care so much But I dont know how
It will run with an A4 untuned.

Without a tune & a converter, it could be a pain. You will probably have to drill out the throttle body hole. You can drive it, but you will have some surging and idle issues. It will probably even die on you a few times. We can get you a mail order tune for $250, which will fix all the problems you have with swapping cams.

until I can afford edit. There is a guy here in fresno that tunes a **** load of ls1's.

umm, heres a novel idea. why dont you wait until you can afford tuning before installing the cam.

My advice to anyone considering an aftermarket cam is to keep the stock one until you can afford a REAL cam and tuning.

Hey, what ever floats your boat COLONEL. Im not looking for a all out race car or a
big cam. Just something for the street. But I do think I will wait to put my cam in untill
I get edit.
