Update: Oil pump is off.The blue O ring was no longer fully seated inside the pump since I had to clock the pump to get it out. So I have no clue if it was flush and seated before I removed it. I will say the O ring looks fine.
I also found out that Melling recommends the Black O ring for the straight tube pick up. I dont know if that could have been the problem or not. I read that the black is direct replacement for the OEM blue O ring.

I'm ready to install the new 10296 melling. Most people say to run the low pressure blue spring ON A STOCK ENGINE. My engine is a rebuilt L92 short block (stock internals)....i have no clue on the bearing clearances...do I go with the blue or red spring???....red is currently installed in the pump.
