Default Cam question

I'm thinking about butting an LM7 in my Jeep TJ, my question is, I have the a stock cam out of a 2006 LQ4 that came out of my turbo LS nova, would it be worth while putting that cam in the 5.3 for my wrangler since I have it laying around, or is it the same. I'm not looking for big power but if it will have any gains and maybe gain some low end torque is it worth it?

06 lq4 cam is a bit better than the lm7. I would up the spring pressure to at least an ls6 spring though still good on budget but better than the stockers.
Otherwise get the stg2 truck cam from tsp low or high lift either one

I thought the 01-04 LS1/LQ9 was the "good" factory stick for the stock compression 5.3 engines ??
Not sure on the LQ4 specs but assumed they were the same as the LR4 and LM7 stuff....191/190-ish@.050"

Think it will change the low end torque? The stock jeep 4.0 is some what gutless with 35" tires

Yeah the larger ls1 Cam tends to trade off low end for carrying up
Top better

If you're more interested in low end, I'd consider the stock 190/190 but cut it on a 112+4 LSA and with 525 lift. Change to ls6 springs. You'll hit peak torque and peak HP early but you'll get good off idle torque at the expense of some high rpm power

According to the GM cam specs I have, the LM7, LR4, and LQ4 are the same, at 190/191, .466/.457, and 114LSA.
It's the LQ9 you want, with 196/201, .469/.479, 116LSA.
The early LS6/LS2 is even better for an OEM cam, with 204/211, .525/.525, 116LSA, BUT it seems to float valves too easily for such a small cam.

I've seen that exhaust lobe on the second LS1/LQ9 cam design listed as 207 @.050".................................
Also the LS2 cam wont have the sensor **** at the rear of the cam which will mandate a different front cover as well as the harness extension

OOPPSS forgot the LS2 is Gen IV. My bad!
Yeah on the LQ9 I might have a misprint. 201 might be 207! Not doubting it!
Thanks!
