Lq9 cam? Have another thread in the external section but figured this question would be better in this section.
So I had an issue with cam code coming up swapped cam sensors, checked wiring. Car started to have issue with no start only crank which got worse to the point it wouldn't start. So at this point figured I have to check cam bolts. Buddy came over and pulled the cover and found all 3 cam bolts backed out. Upon going to retighten the cam bolts noticed no dowel/ pin going through sprocket and/or cam. Did it fall out from the sprocket being loose or did some stock cams did not have this pin/ dowel? Thanks

As said in the other thread, you need the dowel pin. Yours fell out when the bolts backed out. You WILL need to find it, as it's in your engine somewhere, likely in the bottom of the pan.
It's possible the dowel got pushed back into the cam. Either way you need to look for it.
You should be able to get a new one at the hardware store. I believe it was just a 1/4 dowel either 3/4 or 7/8 length will do.

Update. Got the car back running with a new cam, oil pump , ls2 chain cam sprocket, refs chain dampener, oil pump girdle. Just waiting to here back from tuner for retune.. made sure to use red thread lock on the cam bolts also!!!
