Default What cam is this??

The only number that seems to be any good is the 5308 seems to come up as a ls6 cam but I cannot find an ls6 cam that is stamped like that.
The guy I bought it from said it was a howards towing cam but I cannot find any howards cam numbers that match this or even close.

Not sure. Looks like a oem number. I would call Howard’s to get a 100% answer.

That is not a factory stamp. If you have calipers, take the difference btn the largest and smallest measurements on the lobes and multiply by 1.7 to get the lift. This will give you a very rough idea of what you're working with.

Depending on the age of the cam here is a new LS6 cam I picked up from Summit last spring.

I'm not saying it isn't a cam with the 5308 specs. Just saying it's not a factory cam that came out of an ls6 .

It's an 02 or 03 Vette cam. The 5308 is the last four digits of the part number.

2002 Corvette 12565308 .551/.555 204/218 117.5

Here is a good place to find cam part numbers.

The seller didn't tell you the truth. It's a factory GM cam.

While many of us think it is a LS6 cam the OP needs to talk to Howard’s first. Maybe they use a similar number convention to GM. While I find this unlikely best be 100% sure.

Thanks guys I'll get some calupers from work and measure it.
This is what the guy said I bought it from
I have a "torque", or "towing" cam for sale. Specs are; 208/211 @ .050 valve lift and .558/.552 lift with factory 1.7 rockers and a 115.5 LSA

The OEM early LS6 cam was 204/211, .525/.525 on a 116 LSA. This might be aftermarket if the lift is accurate, as it's more than the OEM spec.

I'm the guy that sold him the cam. It is NOT a GM factory cam. It was purchased by my machine shop-Westside Performance, Houston, TX. I specifically told them that I needed a TOWING, or TORQUE cam and that is the camshaft they ordered for me. It is on a 115.5 LSA. and the lift/duration #'s that are posted above were included with the cam.

OP, if you are not completely satisfied with the cam, or do not want to run it, you can return it and I will refund your money. I will even pay for return shipping of the cam so you are not out any money. I don't want any problems, and I don't want to make any problems for you.

I have someone locally who had shown interest in the cam but I had already offered it to you. If there is any doubt in your mind, PLEASE just send it back as I can still sell it locally (for more money!!!!).

You have my contact information already.

No problems at all! Never even mentioned your name in the post or anything I just couldn't find anything verifying the specs so thought I would ask if anyone knew what the numbers were?

Thanks
