Shift points large cam
Where would be optimal for a large cam such as a btr stage 4 to be shifting with all supporting mods such as headers, exhaust, and intake? On average. Currently I am shifting at 6500, would I gain a bit by moving my shift points up a couple hundred? I don't have access to a dyno but I know the cam should easily keep gaining power way past there

Intake is just a fast 78 at the moment but I don't think it. Would really hold me back as of now with the 853 heads. Tuner has me shifting at 6500 right now and I'm running the 1/8th mile @7.1 wanting to hit 7.0. Right now a few feet in front of the finish line it shifts into 3rd so I have a feeling raising the shift points to 67-6800 will help a lot

26s and it's one of the best cam only shelf grinds, plus my 4000 stall is enjoying 1.50 60fts so I don't see where you get that logic from.. It's running 11.1s shifting at 6500 cam only right now.. Seems like it's doing decent lol

FYI I'm looking at 1.5 60s with more weight, less stall, and less power than you this year.

i guess you missed what this thread was about. I am not the one that tuned the car.. thats why the shift points are getting changed -.- and you are still slower than a less modded oversized cammed car shifting at 6500..

You should gain quite a bit moving up your shift points op baring you have no choke points in the intake and exhaust tracks SXCZ28 is right in the fact that cams happy place is just above 7K. What stall and rear gear do you have OP?

I would say if your shifting before the traps to much it's not helping anything but you can shift it just before the line, the force of the shift will give you an extra mph on your slip and a little e.t. Then try letting it rev more and more till your going your quickest. Every car is different. Yours is lighter than most indicating a little higher shift point than most but it's not always the case.
