Default Pucker moment... broken lifter tray bolt

Been thrashing in this project now on weekends for and with a buddy. We were progressing towards having gapped rings and re assembled long block when the lifter tray bolt broke off ugh....

Here is how we got it out

banged a dent in it w punch then a flathead screwdriver

I’ve seen them break before. You can’t let those fasteners fool you. It’s a 10mm Head, but a very small shank and obviously doesn’t torque to 22ft lbs. as a typical 10mm std. shank bolt would.
Good work on the extraction.

Nice job! Most people will over torque a fastener if they are not using a torque wrench for fear of it coming loose
