i noticed one comment saying there is no trigger on the cam
can you confirm this cam does have the trigger 1x on the cam?

Slightly off topic but
how do the other LS based motors that are 24x crank and 1x cam work if it is not on the cam itself?
because the sensor is still on the back of the block
All of the Pro LS cams are the earlier 3-bolt style common to 24X Gen.3 reluctor wheels. If you have a Gen. 4 58X ECM and reluctor, all that's needed to use a 3-bolt cam is the 3-bolt 4-pole upper timing gear as found in a 2005 Corvette for instance. The part number for this is NAL-12586481

So to confirm they do have the 1x trigger on the back of the cam? and will work with LM4

Yes, it's built in to maximize the number of applications they can be used in.

I would hope so but one comment on that cam specifically says it did not have the trigger wheel on the back so that is the only reason for my speculation

We see where the customer asked the question in the Q&A section and the erroneous answer provided by another customer. We'll provide a more clear answer to that. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

It will be building power at 3500 and making strong power from 4500-6500. With good springs, it will not lay over much and be happy out to 7200 plus. You may find yourself shifting out of first near 7500.

Just blew my 4.8 with SS2 thanks to a money shift.

Now I see more SS2 available at 260 but my heart wants to try the new Summit PRO LS turbo cams (already trying the NA stage 2 in a friends truck I'm tuning)

BUT the summit cams are at 290 and there are no promo codes! What a difficult decision.

Are there going to be any promos soon?

What would you use, the 8706 or 8716 for a stock LQ4 just with pac 1218s and LS9 head gaskets? (please notice my intake is a LS6 with the stock TB, it might choke top end)

rogergm92,

With your build, we would recommend the Pro LS Turbo stage 2 SUM-8706. It will help the turbo spool quicker and build power sooner than the SS2. It will be happy to spin to 7000+ rpm with the Pac 1218 springs.

To help with the install we have a cam swap install kit. That is part number CMB-09-0029. This includes the timing cover gasket, water pump gaskets, oil pump o-rings, LS2 timing chain, valve cover gaskets, and harmonic balancer bolt.

Good news. We just launched the SUMMIT10 promo. That will take 10% off any of our own brand parts and accessories. This promo is running for a limited time.

No problem. Glad we could help with a cam recommendation and the chance to save money at the same time.

Just in time, bought the summit 8706 cam+chain+ spark plugs and a belt

BTW the NA stage 2 is so sweet, tried that one in a 4000lb truck with LQ4+4L80e and it revs like a Honda. Likes the nitrous too. Just the sweet spot on the cam, not too big, not too small for a completely STOCK LQ4

94m6z28,

We like the Pro LS truck stage 2 High-Lift SUM-8720 for your combo. It will pair nicely with your LY6 and ProCharger. With the idle speed turned down it will have a noticeable lope. If you wanted to smooth things out a bit you could turn the idle speed up. It may be a little large for strictly towing. Given the 6.0 and torque on demand of the ProCharger, we think this would be a great fit. You'll be able to DD it without issue and tow when you need it. This will work with a stock converter but a 2500+ rpm converter would be a bonus.

Upgraded springs are a must and some PAC 1218 beehive's will do the trick. We have them through Trickflow TFS-16918-16. If you're one for added insurance Trickflow also offers a .660" lift dual TFS-2500286P.

You're going to need upgraded pushrods as well. Typically, a 7.425" will work with this cam. There are variances and this isn't a guarantee. We always recommend verifying pushrod length before purchasing pushrods. We offer the Trickflow TFS-9501 pushrod length checker to find the correct length. You're also going to need 9" dial calipers to measure the pushrod length checker. We'd recommend a minimum of a Chromoly 5/16" .080" wall pushrod.

We know our customers like combos and that's why all of our Pro LS cams are available in combos. Click the "related kit/combos" tab within the overview of the cam to view the available combos.

Poking around I realized the SUM-8702 cam has very close specs to the GM 19166972 (LSX454) cam 236/246 .612/.612 110 which I have used in the past. GM version sounded great and worked pretty well for an OEM cam. Curious if Summit intentionally planned to make another version of the GM cam and if they can identify any differences in the 8702 version?

Thank you for your question. SUM-8702 through 8705 are indeed the old GM cams we've carried for years. When we created Pro LS, we decided they still had their place in the lineup but the majority of them have fairly narrow lobe separation and not the easiest to tune.. With this in mind, we put them in the "Carb intake" category. SUM-8701 and SUM-8706 on up through SUM-8721 are unique and made by a different vendor. . .

Thanks, no worries on the tuning. I did notice 8706 and 8702 had different packaging. I don't have any complaints, I've been throwing summit cams in everything recently: 8707 in daily LS3, 8706 in 5.3T, 8720 in a 1500, and now 8702 under a super vic manifold (debating hitting it with a little plate kit).
