Default BTR TFS 220's EPS Cam... WHOOPS!

We'll, I posted just a few days ago that I was going to be pulling off my Craig Gallant ported 853 heads to replace a few valves. See the tip of the first valve in this photo to see why:

I also mentioned in that post that due to recent spending on my drivetrain (see below), I wouldn't be able to upgrade the heads while I was in there.

We'll...I couldn't do it...so I bought a few things. I'll update the thread as parts start arriving, but here is a rundown of the big changes I have coming:

-BTR touched up TFS 220's with his platinum springs and titanium retainers
-milled to 61cc chambers
-PM valve guides for stock rockers
-Cometic .040 head gaskets
-EPS 226/234 .604 .604 113+3 cam
-FAST 102 port matched by Tooley
-Nick Williams 102mm throttle body
-Johnson 2110 lifters
-FAST 36lb. Injectors
-LS2 water pump to clear intake/TB
-FAST LS2 style Fuel Rail Kit
-LS6 valley cover
-Mighty Mouse Gen V PCV can
-LS6 Timing Chain Dampener
-Katech C5R timing chain
-Ported LS6 oil pump

The rest of my mods will remain, and you can see them in my signature. The exhaust will be a bit a limitation in Dyno numbers, but it's an easy change that can be done at a later time.

Eventually I will tighten things up in hopes of seeing north of 450 rwhp and the potential for 125mph trap speeds. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts on the direction of this build. As it's always been, my car is an 80% street car and 20% track car, even though it's a garage queen that doesn't get driven much. Please keep that in mind as you comment.

The RXT is just awesome. It was a little aggressive when accelerating from a stop at first, but after 500 miles of break in it's as smooth as my stock LS6 was. It's really hard to believe it's as strong as it is. I will be testing that very soon however...

Love your car by the way. Some day I will get a few more cubes in hopes of running like that thing does!

I love the head and cam combo. I put a set of those heads on a buddies car and I was more than impressed, and his weren't even touched up with the tooley treatment that will make some good additional power.

Thanks! I've wanted these heads for a while, and this is just the perfect excuse to make it happen. I've heard that Tooley's valve job blending is magical...I guess we'll see. The only thing that sucks is that I'd love for him to port match a FAST 102 while he as them, but I can't spend the extra $$$ right now.

Good choice on the heads. Should do well. When you get it all together let me know, and we'll set up a run or two

Wow Craig Gallant ported my GT40 heads back in the 90s on my Mustang. Good luck with new combo

I'm not sure. I have been very happy with his tune on my current setup, but I've considered Jesse too. I may take a stab at doing it myself though. I have hptuners Pro with a wideband, and have been learning a lot.

I can't imagine anyone could have ported 853's better. With a TR227 cam I put down 421 rwhp using them. I was hesitant to replace them, but they're milled .030 so my cam options have been pretty limited without fly cutting.

Nice. That's definitely the way to go if you know what you're doing

I definitely get the feeling learning either HPtuners or EFILive is a worthy endeavor! Then you KNOW what's in the tune!

Damn, I'd be hesitant to change them too. Be cool if everything on your car is the same when you get the new numbers, as when you got those numbers above, and use the same dyno..

This combo go surpass the 450 rwhp mark even on a stingy mustang dyno. I've seen it done before threw a auto with a stall.... basic single pattern 228R cam. Nothing special but it did have Tooley 220 TFS heads.

Got damn! But not surprised after seeing what I saw with J.R.'s car with those heads.

Thatd be awesome! BTR may have just convinced me to go ahead with the FAST 102 purchase so they could port match it. I mean, I didn't want to spend that $$$...but I'm not mad either. Weird...

Unfortunately everything has changed. Those numbers were with the stock drivetrain, and I've now changed everything from the clutch back.
