If you have the heads off, replace the lifters regardless. LS1 lifters are notorious for ticking.

90k miles on my ls1 I swapped heads. Kept stock lifters. Big cam too. I didn’t think twice about it either because I put a cam in my 180k mile 2000 Silverado 5.3. No problem with either. I spin the 5.7 to 7000 rpm. I’ve seen people change lifters and have problems when they didn’t before changing them. My advice is if you have ticking lifters then yes change them. No ticking, no change.

All good info but I bought the lq4 out of a totalled truck and it was out when I bought it so I have no idea if lifters were ticking. Only had 70k on it. What is the cause of ticking? Something stuck in the hydraulic portion of lifter?

Our 4.030 rpmspeed hd pistons will work just fine for moderate boost. Hard anodized top also.
File your rings how you want and drop em in. No need to spend extra money for really no reason.
Also our high lift asa made 440/420 on an ls1 with 243 heads milled .030 untouched ports. The stage 2 btr likely wont fo that.
Spend your money wisely.
Our complete rebuild kits are $699. Reuse your rods or get new or find a set of gen4s.
Done.

Lifters seem ok but I am going to replace them. GM ls7 or delphi has a huge price difference. Anyone care to say why. Also going to rebuild the rockers as stated earlier there is a "click" in rocker arms without even rotating them Kinda strange at only 70000 miles

We have the delphi lifters for 99. Nearly everyone that does buys them in bulk non packaged then package themselves. ours are exactly the same as the gm ls7s i cannot speak for the rest. gm has theirs in 3 separate boxes so you can see there is considerable cost savings there.
