hurt ls1 what could it be ???
So end of last year i hurt the engine in my procharged ls1 formula , stock heads stock cam , hardened pushrods , btr valve springs , ls9 headgaskets and arp headstuds . Making 14lbs of boost . on the way to work something happened and when i got to work the car was pumping out smoke like a chainsaw. Had it flat beded home , it was fine when it started up 7.5 hours later , no smoke no sounds drove up the ramp of the truck and was fine ,.
I parked it and have moved it 2 times and each time it starts up fine no missfires no smoke no sounds , after it warms up it pumps that smoke out like craxy and the missfires are up in the 140 and ive seen 200 on my aeroforce. What the hell could it be ?
I have a forged ls3 waiting but im curious . I took the car out this weekend to a show that was about a mile away and the car ran perfect for the 3/4 ofr a mile then pumped out smoke . I did a burnout contest where i did donuts for 3 seconds in 2nd gear and it was fine , let it sit for 20 min and then drove home and it smoked the whole way , but it idles , no rod knock , no lifter tick .
I can only assume broken ringland?

Cracked Piston land/broken ring does that.. I'd start with a compression test and a bore scope.
With a bore scope you can see if you broke the top land off a piston... its not a violent failure in
many cases so there is no symptom until your crop dusting..

It's a shame it didn't smoke during the burn out contest, would've won for sure.
does it do it in boost?
Could be valve seals, piston rings, head gasket...
if you don't know if it's oil or coolant that's the first thing.

Also thinking broken ring land, between the 1st and 2nd ring. Had it before,. Most recently on a v-twin race bike, totally diff application but similar symptoms, the bore holds all the parts together but you get crazy blowby in 1 area in 1 bore..it ran, made decent power and zipped around track, just smoked and misfires sometimes under load, honestly just thought bad rings
