Default Ls9 Swap

So I have a 99 silverado with a 5.3 and was thinking of putting a Ls9 cam along with valve springs and lifters into it. I know there are better cams out there but I'm doing this all on a budget and seeing as I already have those components Id like to go ahead and use them. My main questions are: What are the advantages/disadvantages with this cam, and what all other components should I gather in order to do this job. Other than new gaskets of course. Keep in mind the only thing done to it thus far is cold air intake and a tune. Thank you in advance.

Advantages- cheep, upper end performance improvement.
Disadvantages- loss of low end torque, and in a truck you do not want that. Get an LQ9 cam for good all around improvement.

If I decided to go ahead with the ls9 swap would I need a 4th gen timing cover an can sensor? I’ve heard two different things.

I think so. The LS9 is a Gen IV engine which uses the front cam sensor.
