I'd love to **** my neighbors off with the true duals
Are the new FAST 102s really only $780 shipped? I thought they were closer to $1k. How much am i leaving on the table with a 90/92mm tb with a 102 intake? Ah i'm looking at bare intake without rails, etc

Funny how people get worked heads then to choke it off with an ls6 intake. She needs to breathe. After adding lungs (heads)...open up the nostrils (intake). Granted you can add cocaine (nitrous) but that's a whole different story. Also, mind how much spring rate you are putting in your head. Too light and you lose valve control...too heavy and you will lose power and beat the hell out of your seats.
You'd be surprise with what a nice set of worked 243 heads can do. That 'ol tech can and has kicked a many assess. Don't sleep on them.

Hell i went 10.7@129.x and had a best trap of 131.3 on stock 243s.....like stock......and stock cam.
So to get where he wants to go certainly isn't reliant picking the absolute bestest ported head ever in the history of heads.

Those "grooves" I saw where the valves seat in the chambers are just buildup of carbon making a ridge where in the seat I believe. I was able to remove some of the carbon and the grooves get wider when I do that so these 243s are good to go I think.

To get where he said he's aiming to go it was easy
Went 11.1@124 while still on the stock intake with all the same stock stuff. I did port the intake tho. It takes no special combo....no custom ultimate 1 off special ground cam. No thinking about which ultimate heads to buy. Just paying attention to the basics.
i never even ran the ls6 in the highest state of tune. So the really it was all pretty basic. Even on pump gas.

And if I have it right it was basically port matched, higher ratio rockers, early LS1 cam, good flowing intake and exhaust but a decent amount of custom work in that area, crank scraper/windage tray, EWP, light weight drive train clutch wheels tires etc, and no belt and 16 v battery?
I agree that stuff is mostly easy but most people aren't gonna do it cause they can't just slap it on and go.

The basics is it was a bolt on ls6. It has been ran with out rockers and with. Various forms of mods....no build thread because it's just been a running list of changes since 2002 when it was first installed. So alot of stuff available today wasn't even available back then.
it's never been tracked with a crank scraper although the final dyno was with that. Never ran with a shortbelt or a 16v battery. The belt system is modded tho but has seen various forms. It's been ran with and w/o a ewp,
11.1@124.x was about as simple as it gets for a hotrod. Ls6 intake, stock rockers, 3.90 gear in the 10bolt, stock tq arm, stock slp bilsteins, stock drive shaft, stock interior, no aero mods, single 3.5" exhaust, gms maf, kooks headers, drag pak and light clutch.
moral of the story is it went from the first passes once the ls6 was installed at 12.1 or 12.2 to picking up 1.5 seconds and 13mph with the same engine. So the magic isn't in which perfect head or cam anyone decides is the bestest combo on the planet. But instead how the overall package is put together.
if it woulda made passes in the ls6's final form it woulda likely been in the 10.4 @132-135 range......all with the same cam....same heads that it first went 12.2 with. Even hp from that first run till the last run only changed about 20whp(398 to 417). Then the final output of that same stock h/c was 451whp. That was with a crank scraper, shortbelt, td x exhaust, 1.8 rockers, my duggy box, through a 9".

I'm honestly thinking about just sending the 243s to TSP and using the z06 valves on there stage 1 CNC. Then going with one of there shelf cams (torquer v2 maybe). The cost offset would allow me to run a FAST intake setup and also new clutch (Monster stage 2 with 18 lb flywheel). I'm not sure which springs to run if I went this route. Would there dual .660 springs be too much for the z06 valves? Along with the a/c delete, 25% ud, and 1 7/8 lts, I think I would come out ahead on power vs spending more money on the better A.I. 243s and keeping the stock clutch and intake. I'm really not planning on taking this car to the track any time soon and just want to be able to have some fun on the street and after reading the replies in this thread think that this would serve my purpose the best.
