To be fair, it did seem odd that a 10 year member would do something that stupid.....not to say that being on here 10 years guarantees technical knowledge, but you know. You sold a used engine that needed work, so buyer beware, the end.

Well, THAT was interesting to say the least! I LOVE plot twists! I'm no law expert, but the OP should have a good day in court!

Man I was already planning out my rant post and everything... I have to say though, this is one of my most favorite threads ever on this forum. OP I feel for you, I'd wish you luck, but you have so much evidence going against him that you don't need it lol.

White Lightning if that idiot buyer is a big enough fool to take this to court when the failure is clearly his fault, document all of your expenses and counter sue him for all costs involved.

It's a rough job but someone should educate that ignoramus.

BTW - nice turn of events as the others mentioned

Used partially disassembled engine sale. Anyone expect a warranty on that? Is smoking too much confusion

Take it to court, judge should stick you with court costs for even trying.

Let him take you to court, people try to scare people with court or lawyer talk all the time. No lawyer would take a case like this not even on a contingency basis they only go after the people with deep pockets. His only recourse would be small claims court but then he would still need professional testimony which he won’t be able to afford or get as no professional mechanic or metallurgist would help him. If he does take you to court you have the option to counter sue him, that is where you can make his stupidity cost him even more, you will have to waste your time and document it. very well, any lost wages if you have to take time off to appear in court, and possibly slander if he wants to be a internet hero. Other than that it will just be a waste of time and money for him as he will get stuck with the court costs and filing fees that he has to pay up front and won’t be reimbursed for when he loses his case.

On one hand, I want to send a link. On the other hand, I would almost rather show up to court with it. How "expert witness" will be the machinist that told him 35 ft/lbs. I have done testing to find final torque at correct torque plus angle as has another local builder. GM specifications were made to keep hundreds of thousands of engines together during both initial assembly and after warranty work so I think they have it down. They didn't pay millions of dollars in engineering to figure out proper fasteners and torque for no reason.

Thanks for all of your input, eberyone.

A) Put your ego aside and avoid court wherever possible. i.e. send the link now.
B) You don't have a clue who the judge is, his background, what expert witness the buyer will call, etc. etc. People have won/lost more ridiculous court cases than this would be so why risk it?

Damn I had a rant ready to go as well. He doesn't stand a chance in court unless he lies and somehow gets the judge to believe him.
