it might not be as loud as you think, I kept the cats and stock muffler. In my area they do smog check points so I don’t want to get wrapped up there. (Ca)

It would be nice to hear the car if you have a chance to post up a sound clip. Had an opportunity to dyno yet?

Yes I did dyno the car already. I had a iffy experienace.
what I mean by that is the tuner welcomes me with saying that my car was going to do low 360-370 at most. That it would take a miracle to break the 400 mark. The first pull was 390 and he ended up leaving it at 410hp on a mustang dyno.

which is totally fine with me for a car with 12700 miles. I’m not trying to push it to the limit where something breaks. But those small negative comments gives me the feeling he just did an OK job and didn’t really put his best effort into the tune.

Sounds as though the tuner is practiced at setting the bar low.

You said you have cats and a stock muffler.

What does your entire exhaust setup look like.. What headers etc? Or do you have headers?

What is the intake tube/lid setup

Auto or stick. If auto what stall.

Either way 410 ain't bad.

that cam with a basic setup like yours making 410rwhp on a mustang dyno is dam good. might have some left in it which you seem to think bc of how the tuner acted is even better news. i wouldnt be upset.

I bet she’s got some more in her. Could be worth a retune and some more time on the rollers. Headers will get rid of the cork on your exhaust side and free up more power.

I have hooker shorty headers and slp y pipe..stock cats and muffler.

i have slp lid bellow to 92 Tb and fast intake manifold

6speed...

Im happy given the fact that car has low mileage and great paint and interior..it was his attitude that made me think twice

The reason I think that is bc when he pulled the 410, he said “oh it really liked this one” like if he had more but I felt he held back.

396KillaWS6, 410 whp on a Mustang Dyno with Hooker Blackheart Shorties, SLP Y pipe and your heads & cam set up is Killa!!

Congratulations!

That tuner / dyno operator probably expected 380 and want to set your expectations low at "360-370" so you'd be "happy".

I think you've proved the BlackHeart shortie headers are definitely good headers for dealing with CARB, hopefully some folks will see from your set up the right shorty is pretty damn good.

Thanks.

Could be, he had nothing but boosted LS engines after mine. ZL1 and supercharged SS..so I feel I was like the let me hurry up and get this guy out the way tune you know.

Thanks again, this is my first build and I really just want to pull the trigger and pull out the engine and do 408 stroker, but car has 12700 miles. And I’m not tracking it. So for a mild daily driver. I’m “happy.”

Man it all sounds pretty good to me. I've seen people with much bigger cams and much more radical exh setups etc not make much more power than you are making. It's really doing good for what you got.

You could probably open up another 20 hp or so by spending a lot of time and money on the intake and exhaust but I'd just skip that and move to some other areas like an underdrive, or reducing drag/waste in other ways. Or just enjoy the **** out of it. Should be a very fun street car now.

Edit: I keep getting confused though cause you say slp y pipe and hooker black heart but stock cats and stock muffler.

Do you mean the actual stock f body catback and are you on the stock y pipe or an aftermarket y pipe with stock cats??? There could be some easy/cheap horsepower in that area...

Yea, I’m probably just paranoid because of the tuners attitude.

Well I already have the FAST Intake Manifold 92mm with the Big Mouth 92mm, SLP Lid, And Ssra with the filter lid Mod and SLp bellow. Already have the SLP UD pulley. I do have stock shocks and springs. But I have Umi sway bars, panhard bar, rlca, panhard relocation bar, steel braided brake lines, brembo rotors in the back with hawk pads and Brembo GT BBK in front.

I am am on the actual FBody muffler and cats with after market y pipe and after market shorties.
