The Infamous LS Tick! Help!
not gonna lie i didnt catch that haha. right over my head XD nyoooooooooom
no idea. This BTR stage for cam is kind of kicking my *** though. I can’t get it to idle for anything even with a tune from another guy who has the same cam with similar mods in his LQ9. Amazon accidentally sent me to cams, one stage III and one stage four. i’m gonna take it apart again this weekend, and swap in the stage three cam while also looking for the timing to be off. It’s running super rich and I can’t get it to Idle. And I’m wondering if it’s because since the duration is longer on the exhaust, it’s “short circuiting” and just dumping fuel into the cylinder while the exhaust valve is open causing a fake rich condition. just a thought. glad I replace the lifters last week, and don’t have to rip their heads off again while I swap this cam out.
That was a bit of a side note, but to answer your original question, I have no idea why it started making that noise. The noise was there lightly when I bought the truck and it’s just progressively gotten a little worse. As soon as I swapped in this other cam though, it wouldn’t idol, but I could get it to run while giving it gas. And my friend who would listen to the ticket before and tried helping me with it, said it was completely gone all he was hearing was exhausted because it’s open headers. But no more tick.
if someone could take a look at this data log i did that would be great. tell me where i need to improve it. really new to tuning. but i kinda understand the basic fundamentals
Can't look at the log since I'm at work. Hop on hptuners forum and check out Eiot tuning I've posted an excel spread sheet over there to help dial in fuel timing for cams. That should help with blowing raw fuel out of the exhaust. Then tune your RAF and VE tables for the new cam. Every engine is different and elevation, temperature, air density all play a part so someone else's tune might not work for your setup even if it's close to the same. Here's the link to hptuners. https://forum.hptuners.com/showthrea...-Cam-Gen-3-ECU

i honestly am not really sure how to even change most of what you’re talking about. i’ve looked at a few vids to see if i could do it but it’s a lot more than i was expecting. i really just need the truck running.
