Zboy those are some real nice numbers !
Thanks for posting the Dyno Sheet. Ive pretty Much settled on using the L33, now I'm just trying to figure out what valvetrain and pistons I'm going to run.
So Ive been reading about cams that are ground for under the curve power, Torquier Cams I guess you could say. Ive always liked the huge Donkey **** Camshafts but I know ALOT of those will kill the 5.3s driveability. That BTR stage 2 looks like its putting in some good work on that 5.3L I like Cams that sound Radical like the Grand Am Cup Cam so I will have to get someone Custom grind me up a Camshaft that isn't too much for my combo, from what ive gathered Bigger is Not Always Better. Lol Power comes first, but I want it sounding EPIC at idle as well. Bark with Bite !

There's one word that comes to mind when I hear a nasty lope on the street..... INEFFICIENCY! As in, the wrong cam for the situation.

Your absolutely right , it amazes me how good the GM hotcam sounds for its relatively small size. Been looking at the high lift version. Asa cam sounds great too but I heard and read it drives like a turd.
Tick Torque max stage 2 cam looks really appealing.
Tick website says it can be used in 325 ci and up
I'm going to be calling around to a few different shops to get valvetrain opinions.

If you want the High Lift Hot Cam, go no further than WS6store. It's their baby, and it is way better than the original GM issue. It lopes just enough to tell others "something's going on here". I like it myself.

Tick Performance "SNS" torqueMAX Stage 2 Camshaft for LS1 & LS6 Engines
Standard Lobes: 227/235 | .618"/.605" | LSA110+3

Looking at this cam as well. Has a nice rpm range.

Gonna be a bit ratty on the street. I really think you would like the High Lift Hot Cam. Good sound, very flexible, but still good power thru the range.

Have y'all had experience with aftermarket roller tip rocker arms? The say it reduces side load, friction, and adds durability but I can see where one might experience valve float from the extra Rocker arm weight being on the tips of the valves.Idk? All the factory rocker ams Ive seen say max lift : 0.550" and this worries me a little. Lol

That doesn't make much sense, unless you drive your LS vehicle like a Prius. Plus I can make a smaller cam lope more or a larger cam lope less in the tune so judging by sound alone is an inefficient thought process in itself. I've done some huge cams that you can't even hear outside the car, so really basing anything off sound is dumb.

I support the aluminum 5.3. However, the GM cams leave a lot of power on the table. I haven't seen a high lift hot cam as most of the stock stuff is .525 which sucks. Plus lets get away from choosing a cam based on its sound. I also wouldn't be looking at torquey truck cams for a C5 vette. That said why not use the cam you have, its nowhere near overkill. I've run much larger cams in a 5.3L and they had no issues moving a much heavier car plenty fast. The 230/235 cam worked just fine, 231/239 worked great too, both with .600+ lift and the little engine wanted even more cam. These little things will jam out if you let them.

STOP, use stock rockers, period. Nobody limits stock rockers to .550, I've used them at .650 and still no issues. If anything can throw a trunion kit on the stockers, but leaving them alone is just fine.

SLOW SEDAN- The High Lift Hot Cam is something WS6store sells that is the same duration and LSA as the GM hot cam but with .600 lift instead of .525. The added lift turns it into a far better cam. It also has lobes that are easier on the valvetrain

Figured it wasn't from GM, thanks I see that on their website now. But I like the cam he already has more then that one. 228/232 112 vs spending more for a 218/227 112 and both have the same lift. Granted it all comes down to who tunes it but I think the 228/232 will do just fine, after all guys run that cam in full size trucks without issue so it'll move his lighter C5 along just fine.

High lift hot cam is good mild cam upgrade for someone who wants some power and is really not prepared for the PITA factor of a larger cam. And it is a good upgrade over the factory hot cam, no doubt. IMO 227-229 range on the intake lobe is the sweet spot on a 5.7 cam. I'd run the 228/232 every time, even on a DD.

Not a cam "I" would like, but that's me. In a Vette it should move it right smartly! lol

Obviously the 228/232 cam will be more aggresive in the smaller bore. I plan to have it bored very little if none at all. Fill the bores with Summit Forged Dome Pistons. Compression ratio target is 11.1-11.4 depending on head surfacing requirements.
Should pretty much scream with whatever Cam goes in it Lol. I just dont want to over cam it and it drive like garbage with the 6 speed and 3.42s
Keep the opinions going its interesting to hear different views.
