Both bolts were bent. Id have to look at the threads. The rod big end had some serious heat marks on it.

Sounds like an oiling issue. For the rod to be burned up from heat, that bearing was seized. It blew apart and destroyed the rest of the motor.
This happened with someone else here recently. Issue with the block... 6L as well. Have to make sure all the oil passages are clear on a reassembly.

That's a good point. Probably worth an examination of the turbo. Don't want to just bolt it back to a new motor and have it send trash back into the oiling system.
Actually, how is the oiling setup for the turbo? Did you lose pressure driving oil to the turbo? Or did the oiling system pick up something from the turbo?

Turbo is feed is a tapped bypass fitting above the filter. As far as i know thts a filtered port. I will check turbo before bolting back on.
Im really leaning toward crank possibly having some trash in the oil passages or something. Like i said block was fully hot tanked and i air blowed all passages on it and the crank. But the crank is a lil more tricky to clean.

Of course not. Most were just commenting on the 10-10.5 AFR being too rich and not actually the "safe" thing to do. May or may not hurt anything and every setup is different just that it shouldn't be considered the "safe" tune-up either. Being rich certainly wouldn't cause the devastation seen here.

I know the 10s afr was on the rich side, and not ideal. Like i said i was still workin on the tune up. Ive bent rods in the past from being lean. I dont have access to a dyno in my area. Street tuning this thing is a handful on its own! 15-16psi was my max limit with 93 fuel. Was gonna spray pure meth for anything higher.
Im leaning toward motor was hurt already and just couldnt handle the pressure! Thinkin of ordering a thompson motorsports warrantied short block this time around. By the time u figure parts up etc. Its close to the same as building your own!

I set the tune for 1.28 EQ as a good starting point. On straight 93, that's about 11.48:1 AFR.
It's a good safe place to live... I actually set Power Enrichment for 1.18 and 1.28 for Boost Enrichment. Though that sometimes doesn't work depending on the PCM or how fast the boost comes on. On a Procharger or a larger turbo, going WOT and not building boost, I prefer to set the PE there and then ramp in BE. Otherwise, it's too rich.
Also, Thompson is running a sale on its motor of the month. Have a 408--but can probably get it as a 370 with the forged crank. I think it's as cheap as just buying the 370 from them with the GM crank normally.

Hmmm ill check tht out. The 408ci would be a nice replacement but my turbo is probably to small. The 370ci i had made great power and lit off perfect. Hardly any lag.

Dam thts alot of change! Gonna sit back a lil while and figure out a game plan. May go back sbe 6.0 or nitrous unsure at the moment. Truck was never an issue on nitrous. Last 6.0 lasted 8yrs on 200 shot no problems.
A really nice na motor setup just has tht nice seat of the pants feel. Turbo isnt really there till boost comes in.

I bent rods from a combination of things. Being greedy adding to much timing, meth coming on to early, and running lean. Basicly detonation. Doesnt take much on stock rods. Never hurt a stock piston tho.
