Default First Cam Swap

I've got a 01 Silverado, LM4 out of a Rainier and I was looking at putting a Howards Rattler Cam in the truck. Since this is my first cam swap, I was wondering if I need to install a stall as well or would the stock converter work. If not, could someone suggest a decent lopey cam that would work with the stock stall. Thanks in advance.

What is the truck going to be used for?

The stock converter may work with that cam but I wouldn't.
At the very least, if you're looking for budget, you can run a trail blazer i6 converter which has a stall speed of 2800 rpms and can be picked up at your local parts store for a couple hundred dollars.

I got my GM55 converter from advance auto for under $200, probably under $150 with coupon codes, just gave them my trans am converter back as a core. For a daily driver It may work ok, but in my trans am I feel ZERO difference over stock. I dont even think it helps with "loosening up" things for a cam to idle a bit better but my mail order tune probably isnt the best either.

Id go ws6store hotcam (because I did) comes with springs to match, should work well.

A lot of times the “parts store” converters are just a universal stall.
i would get one off eBay or junkyard that came out of a trailblazer

The converter in the truck is out of a 5.3 Rainier, would that be the same as the i6 trailblazer?

There is a direct link to that cam above, I’m pretty sure the 5.3 rainier torque converter will not be the same stall speed as the 4.2

GM92 is the code, I have found out it is a 2200-2500 stall

According to oreilly the gm92 is the v8 converter, the gm55 is the i6 converter.

My friends saab 9-7 with a 5.3 stock would stall to 3000
