My tooner is sooo good he said to mount the knock sensors all over the outside of the block and then I'll be able to triangulate any knocking and see exactly what cylinders are knocking haha just kidding unless seriously you guys think it will work haha.
Seriously though, I'm really hoping 30-40 over will fix it so I can get some cheap but true flat tops for it. Hopefully the machine shop calls today it's getting cold here already so I want to move this project along. I can't wait to drive it in the snow lol

I talked to the machine shop guys! So they cut it 0.030 and it was still a mess, 0.040 wouldn't do it, they had to take it all the way to 4.065 to Clean it up! He said he's taken the 6.0 blocks even farther than that before (4.125!? He's crazy) without issue many times before and he had no problems with mine so I am relieved I don't have to find another core to start over with.
So then for pistons I need me some 4.065 flat tops for the stock 6.098 rods. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a set of pistons and rings for a piston budget of $300 or less?

Guys I've been digging through every crappy car parts sales website I can find. I just want a true flat-top 4.065 piston for my stock rods for about $300 And I'm not finding it The the only thing I can find are the replacement l92 pistons with rings for about $300 bucks on eBay but they have those stupid valve reliefs cut symmetricaly on the top that steal away quench and compression yuck.

Ws6 store only advertises their 6.0 pistons going as big as 4.040 and that's too bad because the price would be right for them if they did. I don't get why either because I talked to four different machinists around St. Louis before I chose one to fix my block and they all said that they had personally pushed quite a few of them a lot further than 0.065 over without any issues and that it would probably be fine if mine needed to go that far.
Punching an LQ4 to 4.065 isn't really a big deal anymore. The great majority of blocks out there could handle even more if needed.

Youll want your machinist to final hone that block to the piston. Meaning, he will need to measure the piston before he sets up final hone in order to get piston-to-wall clearance correct.
You are correct, lots of iron 4” bore truck blocks go .065” or larger.

I can’t ever find what I’m looking for on their website, so I call or send them a PM here. They probably have them, but it would be in the 6.2 category I’d guess.
