Should! Looks like the original timing set was way off, as I only had to go 2* advanced instead of 7, and that’s just assuming the current one isn’t 2* off also.

Damn.. so sounds like the cam was actually pretty damn close, cause even the 2 degree you see now could be stacked from current timing set etc..

Pretty scary that was an OE timing set that far off.

Agreed, I think im going to throw both gears in the trash and save myself some possible future headache lol

Put it all into my new engine, checked it again on the 2* advanced setting and got 108.875, supposed to be 109. Should be good to go! Appreciate everyone’s help!! Thank you!

Ly5 is a gen 4, but this isn’t a ly5. I knew from first post when he said 24x reluctor. Most folks buying these 5.3’s second hand don’t get the full story as to what they actually have. It’s almost impossible to know actually as GM made so many different variants. All irrevelant now.

The cam WAS in an ly5 and was being checked in that motor Intill I posted the photo of the blue ls1. I did a dod delete and swapped the reluctor wheel to 24x.

See above, it was an ly5, the blue motor is the new engine the cam is going in.
