I was thinking of comps off idle job it’s small like .525/.525 but wondering if anyone bothers with a cam this small.. and what it’s been like.. I just wanna let the clutch out and stand into it.

You don't race off idle. Get something that has a wide powerband/torque curve and it'll be good. This means not a bunch of overlap and duration. Most vendors "stage 1" would put you in this ballpark.

Get something with a low IVC (intake valve closing) number. Most of Cam Motion's truck cams are 31deg., with is really low, and will give great off-the-line response. Give them a call to let them fill you in on this stuff.

I really liked that BTR stage III truck cam in my LS1 Z28 when I still had the stock converter, being that you have a stick, 212 to 218 might really be what you need, but the 218 224 was awesome reliable streetable torque in my 5.7

BTR Titan 1 or 2 look like great options. The stage 1 has a 38 degree intake valve closing, that should make for great "off idle" torque

They'll have plenty of low end with excellent midrange (where you'll actually be as you come off the clutch), very good low rpm manners since they have no overlap and should have as much off idle power as you want no problem.

If you are trying to literally release the clutch and be fully engaged at 1200 rpm and THEN smash the gas, get a 5.3 truck cam like mentioned above. But really, even the titans mentioned should do well with that

If I were you and had your goals I'd go with the titan 2. Knowing what I know now after years of being around LS F bodies, if I were to do a cam in a LS1 I would go with the Titan 4. You wouldn't hate the 4, even with your goals.

A stage 2 with some gears would be killer

A Cam Motion Titan 2 or 3 will do what you want and later on you won't be kicking yourself for not going bigger. Even a Titan 4 would be a great choice, but I'm erring on the side of caution.

I have the BTR stage 2 which is completely streetable with 4 degrees of overlap IIRC. The TSP 228R is a zero overlap cam from what i've read.
