LIFTERS, having a hard time finding good ones
I need to make some other calls, maybe to Tick and Thompson Motorsports. A bad LS1 lifter took my motor out so I have lifter PTSD. I'll pay for good lifters. Cheap insurance not to have it randomly explode on the way to the local brewery and send the roller tip around my engine.

Understandable, if that's the case a really great lifter that provides superior performance and durability to the ls7 would be Johnson 2110 lifters. My question would be, are you sure the faliure in your case was due to lifter defect/design or was there another issue that then caused lifter faliure?
We have some awesome lifters made in the US with the same dimensions as the LS7 to make them drop in ready, Just better parts and tolerances. They are $159 a set. Let us know if we can help. We also have dealers nation wide that inventory them we can refer you to if you need something more local. Please give me a call if I can help.
Thank you,

I did not have great luck with the GM Performance LS7. I went with Rhoads VMax in my current 383. I also have a 305 with the standard Rhoads design. The standard design also works in a non adjustable valvetrain. The more I play with them the more I like them. You can over cam the engine to an extent to get more HP and still have a nice idle, good low-end torque and higher average torque numbers.
I'm no expert but compared supposed genuine GM LS7 lifters sold in bulk and the same lifter sold as a set of 16 in a GM box. I'd swear they were apples and oranges. I went with the set of 16 in my current engine. They appeared to be of higher quality and they are quieter than the Morel drop ins in a previous engine.

They are not he same lifter. We keep the GM and Eaton in our sales office so you can hold them side by side. There is a difference even in appearance and finish work as well as the components like c-clips for the axle rather than a pressed axle. They are the same dimension to be drop in, The similarities end there.

I read a quote as a kid that said “GM doesn’t make parts...they make cars”
Makes sense if you think about it. GM bids it all out to the cheapest bidder and it all gets shipped to the plant for assembly. Who knows who really made the part with the GM part number on it?
