Default Cam for a 383 ls1 stroker

So I've read the cam recommendation thread but it seems geared towards the 346ci LS1.. which i fine but my LS1 is stoked out to 383ci.. so I don't want to consider 1 of those options only to have it not work well at all.

I say this because I already have a Big ***** Thumpr cam in the engine and it was a right pain to get dialed in properly and is potentially causing a few other issues to occur.

Is there a list or are there companies which actually list cams to suit 383 strokers?

*edit*

setup is:
383ci LS1 stroker
241 heads with compcam springs/etc
Big ***** thumpr cam
Vic jr manifold
Quickfuel Diamon 750cfm carb
TH400 with 3200 stall
9" rear conversion with 3.7's

Usually in a case such as yours, you are better off calling a cam grinder such as Cam Motion or TSP and getting a recommendation for your particular combination.
A cam for one guy's 383 would be different than another 383 due to different heads/intake combos. That way you get the right cam for the job.

What heads and intake are on your 383? I would call cam motion or tick , I built an 383 last year and tsp speced me a cam that too big , I called cam motion and tick they both speced me an smaller cam , now my car runs really good with the smaller cam

At present just 241's with compcam valvetrain bits (springs/etc) to suit the big ***** thumpr. I plan to throw on some Trickflow 220's eventually

I rang around and was recommended the BTR Stroker 400+ Stage 3 cam by a workshop (they do a lot of stroker builds usually 408+ though) who reckon the slightly less ci won't matter much and will really come alive when I do the heads.

Other 1 that I was recommended was the BTR LS3 stage 4 cam..

So still unsure and as it drags on the rush/urge just isn't as strong... just need to bite the bullet and order 1.

Summit has a Stage 4 cam that would rock in a 383... 237/246 .625/.605 Lift, 113+3 LSA. The valve events are good for the added stroke. And the added exhaust duration will help carry it higher with the less than stellar heads.

I’d decide if I wanted to upgrade the heads and intake, then call cam motion and pay a little extra for a custom grind vs letting some of these stores guess so they can sell you something off the shelf.

I have a Mamo cam, he speced it for my 383 LS1. Had about 700 miles on it when I pulled it to go turbo. The cars build thread is in this section of the forum. Let me know if you want it!
