Default Forgot the barbell...what else

6.0 fresh build.

Long story short, primed the engine, no oil pressure, I forgot the dumbell in the back (pita since my car was ready to run)

Is there anything else in the back or front I could of forgot? I dont want to be dropping my trans again.

There’s a freeze plug behind the front cover, to the right of the oil pump. It’s on the other end of the oil gallery that the barbell is in.

Cam plate torqued properly so the gasket does it's job, otherwise low/no pressure.

Well funny thing.. barbell was installed (not by me)
Still no oil pressure.
said *** it and sent it.

Started it up, my oil pressure went from 0 to 50 psi in about 5 secs

Rebuilt 6.0 all brand new with stock stockish stuff
gm ported pump

cranked it with the starter for probably a min total before adding fuel and spark. Fired right up no ticking, knocking, chattering.

Good to hear. When you posted above about never having the rear cover off, I kinda wondered why the diverter wouldn’t be there. Glad it’s good.

I bought the engine as a long block. I installed the rear cover as it was missing but I didnt install the diverter. I didnt know the guy who built it installed it ( I should of asked)
now I have a oil leak in the rear lol
I installed it and started it within 20 mins. So I never let the rtv set up. Probably why.
But I went ahead and bought new rear seal and gasket just to be safe.

Gotcha. The correct technique for rear cover install is to allow the crank flange to center the cover. Start the cover bolts and then turn the cover on the flange until you have equal distance from pan rails on each side. Torque the cover bolts to spec and then install the two long bolts through pan last. If you install the long bolts first, they will pull the cover down and cause a seal leak. Of course a dab of RTV on the bottom corners is required. I often find the rear cover gasket a “smidge too long” at the pan rails, so i have to trim the cover gasket. I’m talking about .007-.010” too long. Most don’t notice or bother and it’s fine. I’m just picky. Make sure everything is super clean including crank flange, before you do install. Brakeclean on a shop rag works great here.
