Default Value of low mileage ls1 long block.

I’m pulling my ls1 with a 228r cam with only 31,000 miles and no issues. I had planned on keeping it, but a few guys are wanting it. What do you think is a fair price?

I always start high and see what bites, In my area I would start at $1,600-$1,800 range.

The guys that want it are friends so I’m not looking to gouge. I’m just curious on a fair price without giving it away either. If I got $1500 I’d feel good about it and it would go towards new heads for the new motor.

$1500 is fair given that its got a cam in it.

I've heard the rumor that 04 GTO bottom ends have gen iv rods and pistons.

Check. If so, charge more.

Not worth anything. But I can do you a favor and pay shipping to get it out of your way and keep it out of the landfills.

I wouldn't take less than 1500 personally.

And I would ask for considerably more. I'd check around on current pricing on Ebay and craigslist, but I would likely be asking over 2k.

People still ask 2k or more for **** LS1's, last I heard. Fresh rebuilt craigslist piece of crap..

Yours is far from the average with only having 30k, gen 4 internals, and very desirable being a 24x crank for swaps into NBS trucks and F bodies. What a bad *** combo.

If your friends want a $1,000 motor, they should buy a used iron 6.0 with 200k

I always appreciate when someone wants to help a friend out, but be fair to yourself too. You have a bit of a gem there.

I sold my 80,000 mile LS1/T56 combo off my 2000 Z28 for $4,000 last year. I saw it as $2,500 for the LS1 and $1,500 for the T56. I was not selling to a friend, I wanted money for my build. Took about a month on CL to sell.

That engine looks new inside. Good on you for keeping it maintained. Take Pooters advice and ask more. Don’t let a friend “steal” it from you.

Advertise it on the Corvette Forum.
Its a drop in for a C5. Some owner with a nice car and dead engine would be thrilled with that for $2k

I think I’ve got it sold. Went to my friends last night to borrow his puller to pull my ati balancer off the old motor. He’s putting together a 427 dart block with gear driven F3 so of course we got to shooting the **** and ended up selling my short block to his dad. Everything in their shop is available to me which saves me a bunch from buying tools for one time use so I cut him a good deal for a quick sale on the short block.

Hey, as long as the deal benefits both sides and everyone is satisfied and happy, it's all good!

lol...it’s not like they weren’t going to help me out or let me borrow tools if I didn’t cut them a deal. I cut them a deal for a quick easy sale and what they’ve done for me already.
