Default which motor for my 2006 GTO?

Just purchased a 2006 Gto with a blown motor, the previous owner just had it rebuilt and installed a larger cam then had it tuned not sure what happened
i can save the cam,and the heads look ok accept for a bent valve. The Crank has 2 reluctor wheels about 1/8 from each other that each have 24 “teeth” this seems strange as I thought only 1 wheel would be needed.
Anyway I’m looking to replace the motor with either an lq4 or lq9 I understand their basically the same other than a dished piston for the lq4
ive also read that aluminum head would flow better than my ls1 heads.
I plan on eventually boosting engine so I’ll be installing better rods pistons and arp stuff... I’m concerned about compatibility between the lq4,lq9 different years and my LS2 cam, crank and cam sensors and knock sensors.there seem to be a lot of cheap 2002-2004 lq4’s and lq9’s. I suppose I could just use a hole on the side of the block for my knock sensor but could I also use my cam, plate, and existing sensor from the LS2. what piston should I use that would equate to about 10-1 compression ratio with LQ heads? Also what’s the deal with my crank wheel? Sorry I’m a SBC,BBC dude without any LS experience. Also does anyone know which oil pan I need, only the back part of mine is still there with no p/n.

The factory 24 tooth wheel is made from 2 pieces pressed and tacked together. There should be no space between them.
LQ4 and LQ9 engines are cast iron blocks. Do you want 100# more weight over your front wheels?

I’ll look again but they definitely have a space the teeth are also offset from each other.it was just an observation as I’m not familiar with the motor and this crank is junk anyway.
ive read the iron block is 65lbs heavier but either way I’m not really concerned with the weight rather the strength, cost, and ability to bore if needed

If you want a bigger bore in an aluminum block, get an LS3 , or LS7. Then get a 24x crank for either one, and the other sensors can be dealt with.

You have a gen iv block, why downgrade?

Get another engine with a gen iv block.

LQ4/LQ9 aluminum heads 317 casting will not flow better than 243/799 heads From your LS2.
317 heads have larger chamber volume than 243s. If you don’t plan to lower compression ratio, 243 heads from LS2 are better choice.
