You and your valid reasons for considering other options. :-)

I would normally agree, but a stock LS crank is a beast.

Was it I Robot or Eagle Eye? "My logic is undeniable."

I am going to have the rotating assembly balanced either way. If the price difference between rods/pistons/stock crank + balance vs balanced rotating assembly is not more than $500, I don't see the point of keeping the stock crank.

Makes sense. Another thing to consider is... How much can you get out of your current short block if you sell it? Cost of balanced rotating assembly + $$$ you get from selling your current short block + cost of machining current block = close to the cost of a built short block with a better block as a starting point?

I got bit right in the head of my dick playing that game. I will not be selling anything until I make a 1/4 mile pass.

I just saw a sponsor has a sale on 408 short blocks for $4500. A balanced rotating assembly with all forged internals and bearing is around $2500 machining of the block plus new main bolts or studs $500. Sell current running long block with heads and cam since you have new heads and will be getting a new cam any way $1500. You're most of the way there and that 408 will make over 500 rwhp easy with more torque plus you're built to handle 1000+ rwhp so no matter how crazy you decide to go you are covered.

Just giving you more to think about … LOL

I am not doing a new motor. I have to draw the line somewhere, and that is the block.

I can relate on having to draw the line some where. Most of us have some kind of budget limitation. Just throwing out options to consider. Most of the sponsors sell short blocks on the budget side that you couldn't build yourself for that price if you have to pay a local machinist to do anything.

I talked one of the guys that had a Procharger on his C5 vette. He said that he had the upgraded pusher fans, and he still was unable to drive the car during the hot summer months because his AC just couldn't cool in 110+ degree heat.

lol. I just don't need a block for what I am doing right now, and I really do not want to get a block unless it is a Darton sleeved 427 shortblock.

Did he say which fans? They are not all created equal....and he's in a better, different airflow/temp problems than an Fbody.
