Back when LS6 take out (used) cams were easily available and cheap they were popular. But there are much better choices available depending on what you'd like to get out of it

You should post up more details like vehicle, gearing, trans, torque convertor stall (if applicable), max rpm, power adders (nitros, turbo, etc.), intake, header type, and how you'd like to use it (towing, street, street/strip, strip only). Then you should get some better suggestions.

@68Formula Good point my apologies for the lack of information. Build is in the part acquiring stage short of block back from hot tank. I installed new cam bearings and deglazed cylinders. Not using stock pistons and rods.

1993 mustang GT
373 rear end
4l80E
Not sure of converter yet
Max RPM isn't to important (street car mainly)
Turbo (leaning towards EBAY GT45) but only temporary
stock truck intake
single front face turbo manifold with cross over
car will be a driver, and go to track sometimes for fun

I am throwing it together if you will just to get LS powerplant in car and drive and feel it out. I don't have a horsepower goal so if it makes 600 or 1000 it doesn't matter because its not going to stay in this form to long. I was making a bit over 500 to tire with stock 302 with vortech charger and heads. Its my first LS swap but definitely not my engine build. I know the community is the best for info as you guys have some amazing builds and projects going. I appreciate all the input very much. Thanks in advance everyone

Awesome, thank you very much for that information. Looks like that's the one I will go with (specs look very nice). As far as piston and rod choice, there are a lot of different options. any recommendations on a piston rod combo that are reasonably priced? I have a few in mind just wondering what everyone likes to go with on a budget?

Hey guys. Got the summit stage 2 turbo cam. I also got https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-326945400012 these pistons. I ordered the matching rods but no stock for 6 months. Im wondering what you guys recommend as another option. I need to get rods, lifters and pushrods still. Stock crank being used. any recommendations? also what timing set works well with that cam? i got a cloyes but no torrington bearing included and i cant find a good explanation if i need one or not (i havent checked thrust play simply because im not sure of the desired operation style for the cam gear with or without bearing which i believe .001 ish is wanted correct me if im wrong).

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates its been a slow process as i have so much other work to finish. Ordered Wiseco pistons and K1 rods with king mains and clevite rods. Should be here in a week. Then gap rings and get rotating assembly together to check clearences. I got -3.2cc flat tops hoping with my 6.125 rods and .052 head gasket, should be around 10/1 CR. Ill see where the piston ends up on TDC and if i have to change head gasket thickness i can. Want to stay with pump gas and meth if needed. I got block painted and my cam bearings installed. Once i get the cylinders honed and rings gapped ill post pics. Block is painted. Ordered all the little things that should be here any day such as ARP hardware where needed, new front and rear covers, lifters, oil pump etc. Its coming along but slowly. Love this site, lots of great people and great info.
