Default Summit Ghost Cam installed

Drives just like stock, although its untuned still. Itll hold idle in nuetral/park AFTER i drive it a bit. Will have to hold on the tune because of a drop in oil psi which is driving me crazy at the moment. From idle at 35/37 at full operating temp in stock trim, it now idles maybe at 5psi. Cold starts at 35/37, before 60/65.

See if a new pressure sender fixes it. Use Delco.

Tried two different opsd and both read the same. Oil pump was not touched, retainer plate looked good so we re used it, but i just found out silicon was used on it too. At this point im gonna replace the oil pump and pick up tube, i have a feeling something might have fell thru into the pan since its been super windy out here. Also gonna replace the retainer plate.

This is the first time i see this pic, it was taken when cam went in. Im thinking some of this crap if not all, made its way to the pan and got stuck in the screen.

I wonder if some of that junk has inadvertently gotten stuck in the oil pump relief (sticking slightly open) not allowing the pump to actually build pressure.

I had a 212/218 115lsa in a 4.8 and it drove great but the torque shifts to the right with any cam in a tiny engine so it lost a lot below 4k, although it pulled very good to 7200+

I imagine with a 4k converter and some dome pistons or some crafty headwork that cam would be awesome in a 4.8

im hoping thats all it is, everything was fine and im not trying to replace cam bearings just yet lol. Number of things point to just the retainer...just ordered one from summit, since these are the new style plates, 18ftlbs the correct torque on the new sryle?

I'd get some ARP bolts to go along with it for cheap insurance

This oil pressure issue was brought up in your previous thread: Oil psi low after H/C install

Have you dropped the pan to inspect and replaced the cam retainer plate yet?

I believe that is correct, but to properly install it you really need the newer allen head bolts that are designed to fit into the recess on the new style plate.
Ive used the hold style bolts before and not had a problem but for the extra $6 or whatever it was for new style bolts its a good idea. Yours may come with them anyways
